Protection Relay Testing & Commissioning
From protection fundamentals to secondary-injection testing of overcurrent, earth-fault, differential and distance functions, and formal reporting.
This course covers the complete path of a testing and commissioning engineer, from zero to running a project independently. It focuses on hands-on practice with real test sets and relays, reading settings and documentation.
By the end of the course you will be able to
- Prepare a test plan for a protection relay
- Test functions 50/51, 50N/51N, 67, 87 and 21 by secondary injection
- Analyse IEC curves and acceptable tolerances
- Deliver a standard, auditable test report
Teaching method
Each session combines a short theory section, simulation and hands-on practice from a real project. Exercise files, report templates and checklists are provided to participants.
